Charged at submission. An order goes to Quest only after its charge succeeds. If it cannot be sent, it is cancelled and refunded.
Adjustments are visible. If Quest runs a reflex or repeat test, or bills less than you were charged, the difference shows on the order.
You set retail. You decide what your patient pays inside your own app.

Accounts are for companies, practices and programs, not individuals. We verify the entity before it can order.
Every order is authorized by a clinician with an NPI and a license in the patient's state. Each one verifies their identity and signs with CareGap personally — CareGap never originates an order.
Orders are client-billed to CareGap and charged to you. No insurance, no patient billing, and no federal health care program beneficiaries.
For each provider, someone who can be reached day or night if a result is critical: the provider, a covering clinician, or an answering service.
No. You order on CareGap's account; Quest bills us and we charge you. If you would rather Quest bill you directly, set up your own account through us instead.
Each test is charged at CareGap's Testing Price List, the same for every customer, plus the per-order platform fee. Ask us for the prices of the panels you need.
In sandbox, yes. Every sandbox account comes with a test ordering provider, so you can place orders end to end before anyone enrolls. Real orders need your own enrolled provider.
CareGap relays it to the provider's 24/7 critical contact and records every attempt. We relay only — interpreting the result and following up with the patient stay with your clinician.
You set your own retail price. Many states regulate re-billing lab work through direct-bill, anti-markup or disclosure rules, so have your counsel review your pricing for the states you operate in.
Yes. You declare your HIPAA status at signup, and the BAA you accept applies the right terms to it, whether or not you are a covered entity. Card data is handled by Stripe and never stored by CareGap.
Yes. Email us and we will move your account; you accept the agreements for this model and keep your API keys.
